Update: FULL-TIME Fashion Design Schools in UAE

We have just updated a list of FULL TIME fashion design schools in the UAE.

We have also taken out a couple of schools that no longer offer a Fashion Design program.

The first Pattern Drafting class begins today, Saturday at 5:00 PM.
Also, if you cannot make it on Saturdays, there is another class during weekday evenings – Mondays 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm
And one more class during weekday mornings – Tuesdays 9:30 am – 12:30 pm

Tools required for pattern drafting

Below are the necessary tools for a pattern drafting beginner.
To do a good job, one needs the right tools for the job.

DRAFTING PAPER
– transparent white sheets/rolls of paper used for drafting and tracing
Tracing paper

MECHANICAL PENCIL
– ideal for pattern drafting sharp lines
Mechanical pencil

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ERASER
– used to erase mistakes
Eraser

 

 

 

 

 

MEASUREMENT TAPE
– used to measure the body and curved draft lines
Tape measure

 

 

 

 

STRAIGHT LONG RULER
– used to draw long lines (39 1/2″/100 cm or longer)
Long ruler 60cm

 

 

 

TRANSPARENT 1/8″ GRID RULER
– used to draw short straight lines, measure shorter measurements, draw seam allowances

L-SHAPED RULER
– used to draw 90 degree right angles ONLY
L-shaped ruler

 

 

 

 

 

CURVED RULER
– used to draw curves
– and used for those curves that require one end more straighter and the other end more curved (ie. hip)

SQUARE CURVE (transparent)
– used to draw curves
– and used to draw curved seam allowances (optional to grid ruler above)

– used to transfer garment shape or draped fabric pen lines onto paper to make a paper draft

– used to keep paper folds in place
